Words alone have no meaning. They need something to represent them, such as an image or a memory.
For example, what would become of the word "sun" if you didn't immediately think of a representation of the word sun, an image of the sun, or a memory of a sunny day?
To give an even better example, I'll try to invent a word. Let's say the word "FRIXIXE".
Can you picture this word in your head?
Each reader will probably have to come up with their own representation of this word, in which case we'll have hundreds of different representations. With these new representations, there are countless open doors that give access to dozens of new imaginary worlds in each reader's head.
If you type the word "Frifixe" into Google, you'll also discover a number of different representations associated with that word, but you probably won't discover a specific representation of that word, unlike the word "sun", or the word “one”.
That's why I like to play with words, and I offer you an exercise that will make you play with words.
That said, let's get started.
Read the following text from top to bottom, reading only the words in bold
Now Yourself You are Beautiful, Be you
Now read all the following words, from bottom to top.
Now
Yourself
You are
Beautiful,
Be you
The words are exactly the same. I've just changed the way you read it, your focus and the perspective, which I'm sure has led to different interpretations of the same words.
This is the magic of perception, which act as a lense through which we interpret the reality around us.
Perception can make someone optimistic or pessimistic, and this always depends on the upbringing you've had, the environment you grew up in and the experiences you've had.
That's why there are millions of interpretations of reality.
And that's also why emotions, perception and behaviour are inseparable.
I'll finish by reminding you that every time something happens in your life, it changes its course forever. So be careful with what you do.
P.S. Other posts about perception:
Simpl words, powerful concept!
I love nothing more than word play! Each and every pun of mine is intended.
