This gorgeous poem is in my head. The first thing I want to do when I’m overwhelmed is to run away from myself (that’s why I used to like wine so much!) so I appreciate this reminder to stay❤️
Thanks for your comment and testimony Donna. If there's one thing people run away from themselves, it's through certain addictions. It's as if they want to anaesthetise something that's inside them. Do you agree?
A beautiful poem! The repetition of "stay" creates a powerful urge to persevere. The line "let the voice that comes from your heart show you the way" is particularly lovely.
Exactly. It hits hard emotionally. It convicts me and make me realize that I find it hard to sit with myself too. Sometimes we don't just want to escape reality; we want to escape ourselves.
You certainly don't need to be a poet or an English teacher to be a poet; really, all that is needed is dedication and respect for the craft, both of which you have demonstrated in your simple yet substantive work!
Just calling it like I see it—I don't believe in barriers to artistry and will always encourage those who respect their crafts to continue their journeys!
Thank you Rolando that's very kind. I'd love to have you on my testimonials page as you're a fan. Either send a DM or if you'd like pick a poem and write a testimonial I can use for my Substack. Many many thanks again.
What I understood from this poem is be kind enough to yourself to be with yourself when things are uncomfortable, rather than turn to escapism and distraction.

Hi Falak. Thank you for your comment.
This poem hits hard.
Thnak you for your comment. Hard in the way it makes reconsider some things?

Beautiful poem and flow. Perseverance is a great virtue but so few persist to follow up on it. Thank you!
This comment is very enriching, since I'm a fan of your poetry 🙏

The secret is to stay - with yourself.
When you are at home within you, you are at home anywhere.
It's not quiet enough for me - here.
I hear you! I feel this poem.
Also not a poet or a native English speaker.
Thank you for sharing.
I feel like it could be a song! 🎶
well, if so, I hope it's a hit :)

Choose stability!
