The Forsaken Chest: Memories never claimed
Chapter 4- Memory is a compilation of desires
Previous note: It all began with a photo I took — a moment forgotten, or maybe never known. A memory. A secret left behind. Every Wednesday and Sunday, open the chest. Each chapter — just 100 words. But some memories linger far longer. The first chapter is free for everyone.
Uncover the story no one claimed.
Chapter 4- Memory is a compilation of desires
Peter remembers his wife every day, as if he didn't want to forget her, or couldn't. Seemingly, he felt guilty. When you survive, and those you love don't, this is what you experience- an emptiness mixed with guilt, you want to leave too.
And this breeze that flows, soft and fresh, scented like Helena. Perhaps it's her soul that has come to pay him a visit.
It can't be. Memory is a hallucination, a one-person fabrication.
Peter continues his walk and spots something in the background. It is like an old brown chest.
Chests are all the same.
Are they?

100 words and so much content! The wife is gone, but who says the connection is broken? And does guilt really need to be given a place in life? I think Love is real, while guilt has to "borrow" its "realness" from us. We are taught how to. The chest? It likely changes because WE change. Maria
