You're not alone experiencing this kind of morning, or shall I say mourning. I have for years now stopped reading the free papers and stopped the tv or radio in the mornings. It sets the wrong tone and makes us live in fear. You find out that the news get to you anyways, we don't need to feed it into our veins. There's so much talk of well being but the world we live in does a lot to contradict what is good for mental health. I don't say turn a blind eye, but there is a time for everything, and information that is thrown at you first thing in the morning well what is the purpose of it, really? I don't know. Very thought provoking post you have written. Thank you, makes me re evaluate as well, the information that comes out whether it is public service, private media. What's the purpose of it? Has it changed? Why does it change? How does it affect me?
Thanks Pilgrim. Unfortunately, we're all experiencing these kinds of days. The way things are going, this is just an appetiser for what the world may have to offer us
I know, I hear you. We have hope, we have choice, we have to also offer what good we have. It's not a one way street. Unless we want the appetiser to become the daily three course meal we ought to look at any options while the kitchen is open!
So right, Pilgrim. I haven’t watched tv for months, radio is on only briefly in the morning…not that I’d need to hear news… it’s all very much coloured by the official standpoint.
But there is cat circus indoor every morning, and bird song coming from the garden.
Bach’s ‘double concerto’ colours the atmosphere while his ‘Chaconne’ puts me back on earth.
There's a circus all over... we worry when they offer free tickets! hahahahha Sounds you're surrounded with, birds, Bach and cats, can it get better? I'm glad you've found a better morning tune too!
Classical music and birds sure do help. I see people suffering on the news and have this compulsion to bring them here where there aren't bombs going off, and I can feed them something. They could hear the birds in my back yard. I wish I had been rich enough to sponsor a family from Afghanistan.
We don't have a TV or watch any programming for several years now and it is true that the news still reaches us. I have wondered why the people who decide what is shown decide to provide the images you describe and come to the conclusion that they aim, often with political urging, to dehumanize the horrors of violence. It's not only the wars and the criminal offenses, it starts with the games parents allow their children to play on electronic devises. We have been conditioning the latest generations for the last 15-20 years with more and more realistic digital worlds in which they are rewarded for killing and destroying as many digital characters as possible. That helps when at voting age they are asked to spend small portion of GDP for wars and weapons all around the globe to defend the one true narrative that the powerful claim to have discovered as what we all have to fight for.
I am loving your comments about my post. Thank you so much

We just need to change the morning’s tune 🙏💙💫

I think I prefer my cat circus to any other being ‘performed’. At least my cats go back to sleep 🙂
But yes, this morning tune is quite a nice one.
Hahahahahahaha a show that never fails I am sure.
Nope, never fails. Sometimes a morning and a late night performance ;o))
Lovely Adagio, thank you! TV is mostly off. Music fills my home. Selective news on my phone. Lots of walking in my day.
What Bach piece do you have playing there?
I was listening to this one https://youtu.be/-ywL_zokELE?si=DUSINOX-H_a24PAr
That is beautiful. Emotional and moving.
I agree Leomhann

Excellent analysis, as if Pessoa had been reciting the morning news..
Jaap, thank you so much. You're putting a lot of pressure in me 😀

The line between subjective and objective is only getting thinner these days. Maintaining their separation is our only hope.
I never thought about that line. You just gave me some ideas. Thanks for reading Stanley
Well I guess we’re even!
